Why Checking Your Oil Matters

Regularly checking your vehicle's oil level and condition is a simple yet effective way to extend your car's lifespan. Proper oil maintenance:

  • Lubricates engine components
  • Reduces friction and wear
  • Enhances fuel efficiency
  • Prevents costly engine repairs

How to Check Your Oil

  • Step 1: Park on a level surface - Ensure your car is parked on a flat, level surface and the engine is turned off.
  • Step 2: Locate the dipstick- Pop the hood and find the oil dipstick - it usually has a bright handle and is labeled "Engine Oil."
  • Step 3: Remove and wipe the dipstick -Carefully pull out the dipstick, wipe it clean with a cloth, and reinsert it fully.
  • Step 4: Check the oil level - Pull out the dipstick again and examine the oil level. It should be between the "Min" and "Max" marks. If it's low, it's time for an oil change.
  • Step 5: Inspect the oil's condition- Observe the oil's color and consistency. It should be amber and translucent. If it's dark and gritty, it's time for an oil change.
